WhatsApp was founded in 2009 by Jan Koum and Brian Acton, two former engineers at Yahoo!. They had the idea of replacing the old SMS (messaging service). The software is available for Android, BlackBerry OS, iOS, Symbian, Windows Phone, Nokia and has recently been made available in a Windows 10 application, but you can also use it in browsers with WhatsApp Web. The application has joined Facebook in 2014, but continues to operate as a standalone application focused on building a messaging service that is fast and works anywhere in the world.

WhatsApp allows users to exchange text messages, voice messages and even call between them. In written messages, files (files) of photos and documents can be sent. The written messaging service also allows you to take photos and send them immediately to the contact. Messages and photos can be forwarded to other contacts who also use WhatsApp

You can also communicate between groups by written messages or by calling, for example, you can create a "Family" group, where you will put your wife, your husband, your children and thus communicate directly with all of them. In written conversations you can express your feelings using emoji. Our messages and calls are protected with end-to-end encryption, which means third parties, including WhatsApp, can not read or hear them. Behind every decision is our desire to enable people to communicate without barriers, anywhere in the world.

Contacts in your phone book, if configured with the WhatsApp application, will automatically be added to your WhatsApp contact list. You can see your WhatsApp contact list directly in the WhatsApp application, but you can also see it in your phone book. To access WhatsApp you need an Internet connection, via Wi-Fi or by turning on the mobile data.

WhatsApp is free to download and can be used on all types of phones. For iPhone users, there was only a charge when the app was downloaded. But in December 2012, as a limited offer waived the one-time fee for iOS and was available for download directly from Apple's iTunes, for free.
